Madhepura Court Recruitment 2024 (eCourts.gov.in) New Notification

Madhepura, originally a sub-division of Bhagalpur District, had its Munsif Court jurisdiction over the entire area of Saharsa and Madhepura until 1954. The Munsif Court at Madhepura is believed to have started soon after the formation of the sub-division in 1845. The court was transferred from Kishanganj to Madhepura by the Lieutenant Governor’s order on 19 June 1865, with the Bhagalpur Judge requesting funds for a Kutchery house in Madhepura in December 1865.

Due to the Kosi flood, the Munsif Court and the sub-divisional officer’s office were temporarily shifted to Supaul in 1934 and returned to Madhepura in 1938. The Sub-ordinate Judges Court at Madhepura was established by a government notification on 11 October 1944 and began functioning on 1 November 1944. Madhepura attained district status on 9 May 1981, and the judgeship started on 6 December 1986, inaugurated by Chief Justice S.S. Sandhwalia. The first District & Sessions Judge was Jaleshwar Nath Dwivedi. The new Civil Court building on NH 107 was inaugurated on 6 November 2004.
