The judiciary in South Garo Hills was separated from the executive on 17 December 2020, following the approval from the Hon’ble High Court of Meghalaya and the order of the Governor of Meghalaya. The district headquarters, Baghmara, also houses the District & Sessions Court. The district judiciary is currently staffed by the District and Sessions Judge, the Chief Judicial Magistrate, and the Judicial Magistrate First Class.
