The District Courts in Haridwar, established by the State Government in consultation with the High Court, operate under a three-tier system. The highest court is the District and Sessions Judge, handling both civil and criminal cases, with jurisdiction derived from The Bengal, Agra, and Assam Civil Courts Act, 1887, and the Code of Criminal Procedure. The District Judge also presides over the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal. Subordinate courts include the Chief Judicial Magistrate and Judicial Magistrates, with the Chief Judicial Magistrate overseeing the latter.
