Howrah, one of the most densely populated districts in West Bengal, is located between 22°12′30″ and 22°46′55″ north latitude and 88°22′10″ and 87°50′45″ east longitude, along the west bank of the Hooghly River, directly opposite Kolkata. Historically, Howrah was part of Hooghly District until it became an independent administrative unit in 1793. The district’s judicial system evolved, with an independent Judgeship created on January 1, 1938. Today, Howrah’s judicial infrastructure includes several courts, including Fast Track Courts, Civil Judges, and Judicial Magistrates. The district is divided into multiple sub-divisions with dedicated courts in Uluberia and Amta.
