Sehore district, formerly part of the Bhopal Princely State, merged with the Union of India on 1 June 1950. Before the merger, Sehore had Munsif and Subjudge courts, with judicial work conducted in Urdu. These courts handled minimal civil and criminal cases, with appeals directed to the Bhopal District and Sessions Court. Post-merger, Sehore, and Raisen districts formed part of Bhopal State, and judicial changes followed the formation of Madhya Pradesh on November 1, 1956. A Class-II Judge was appointed at Sehore headquarters, and the District and Sessions Court was established in 1978. The first District and Sessions Judge, Mr. CK Tandon, took charge.

Initially, the courts operated from the old building near the Sehore Municipality office, before moving to the current location. Over time, Civil Judges and ADJ courts were added, expanding the district’s judicial framework.
