The District Court, Nalgonda, established in 1951, currently operates with 19 courts, including seven District and Session Courts, two Senior Civil Judge Courts, and ten Junior Civil Judge Courts, along with a District Legal Service Authority. Nalgonda, situated in southern Telangana, derives its name from two Telugu words, Nalla (Black) and Konda (Hill). The district covers an area of 2,449.79 square kilometers and has a rich historical legacy, having been called Neelagiri by Rajput rulers and later Nallagonda after Bahamani king Allauddin Bahaman Shah’s conquest.

Nalgonda is home to several historical landmarks, including the Deverakonda Fort, built in the 13th and 14th centuries, and the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam, the tallest masonry dam in the world. The District Heritage Museum in Panagal, established in 1982, houses a collection of historical artifacts, including sculptures, coins, and tools from various periods.
