The Malkangiri Judgeship was separated from the Koraput Judgeship at Jeypore and began functioning independently on 20th April 2013. It was inaugurated by Hon’ble Justice Shri B.K. Mishra of the Orissa High Court, Cuttack, along with Hon’ble Shri A.K. Mishra, Registrar Admin, and other dignitaries.
Initially, the District Court operated from a building provided by the Revenue Authority, Malkangiri. A new District Court building was inaugurated on 10 September 2021 by Hon’ble Chief Justice Dr. S. Muralidhar in the presence of Hon’ble Justice S.K. Panigrahi and other judges. All courts have since shifted to this new complex.
Currently, eight courts operate at the District Court Complex in Malkangiri headquarters, with an additional three courts functioning at other locations within the district.
