The Judicial Building was inaugurated on 5 November 1928 by Hon’ble Sir Charles Gordon Hill Fawcett, PUISNE Judge of the Bombay High Court. The building was designed by the consulting architect of the Government of Bombay and constructed under the supervision of officers from the headquarters of the Public Works Department. The estimated cost was Rs. 20,00,000, with the final expenditure amounting to Rs. 19,50,000.

The construction began on 24 November 1923 and was completed on 31 October 1928. Key personnel involved in the project included S. Woods Hill A.R.I.B.A. and J. Mercer L.R.I.B.E. as consulting architects, along with executive engineers E.P. Watson AMICE, P.L. Bowers CIE MC AMICE, and A.E. Sharp BSc AMICE. J.K. Panse served as the assistant engineer, and K.B. Mandke was the contractor responsible for the construction.
