The State Reorganization Act of 1956, based on the recommendations of the State Reorganization Commission, led to significant changes in Rajasthan. The Union Territory of Ajmer-Merwara, classified as a Part ‘C’ State, along with the areas of Abu, Sunel, and Tappa, was merged into Rajasthan. This newly reorganized unit was granted the status of an ‘A’ Class State on 1 November 1956, shaping the Rajasthan we know today.

In the same year, the District and Sessions Court for Jaipur District was established. The court functioned at its original location until 21 March 2007, when it was relocated to a new building near the Mini Secretariat Office in Bani Park, Jaipur.
