Karauli Judgeship was established on 29th August 1997 after separating five tehsils from Sawai Madhopur district. The District & Sessions Court, Karauli, was formed by abolishing the existing Special Court (Dacoity Affected Areas) and Additional District & Sessions Judge, Karauli. It was relocated to a new building in 2006, with Shri Rajendra Singh serving as the first District & Sessions Judge. The judgeship comprises six tehsils: Karauli, Hindauncity, Sapotra, Mandrayal, Todabhim, and Nadoti, with a total of 22 judicial courts, including Gram Nyayalayas and a Juvenile Justice Board.

Karauli is known for its religious sites, including Shri Radha Madan Mohan Ji Temple at the district headquarters, Shri Mahaveer Ji Jain Temple (35 km northwest), and Maa Kela Devi Temple (22 km south), which marks the start of the Keladevi Sanctuary.
