The Aravalli district was officially declared on 26 January 2013, and it was formed on 15 August 2013. Modasa serves as the headquarters of this new Aravalli district, which was carved out from the tribal areas of Sabarkantha.

The District Court of Aravalli at Modasa began its operations in July 2016. Initially, the court functioned out of the old court building in Sambalpur. In March 2019, the District Court of Aravalli at Modasa moved to a new court building located on the Shamlaji Highway, opposite the district collector’s office in Modasa.
