Tonk District, located in the northeastern part of Rajasthan, lies 100 km from Jaipur on National Highway No. 12. Surrounded by Jaipur (north), Bundi and Bhilwara (south), Ajmer (east), and Sawai Madhopur (west), it has a rich historical legacy. Nawab Mohd. Amir Khan founded Tonk in 1806 after conquering it from Balwant Rao Holkar. Although briefly under British control, it was returned to Amir Khan in 1817 as per a treaty. Post-independence, Tonk joined the Union of India, with most areas merging into Rajasthan and some eastern enclaves becoming part of Madhya Pradesh.

In 1817, Amir Khan established the SARASHARIYAT Court, which handled civil, criminal, and revenue disputes. Over time, separate courts for these matters were introduced under Nawab Ibrahim Ali Khan’s rule. After independence, these courts were abolished, and the Tonk Judgeship was formed in 1977, with Shri Prem Chand Jain as its first District and Sessions Judge. Today, Tonk District comprises eight talukas: Tonk, Newai, Malpura, Uniara, Deoli, Dooni, Todaraisingh, and Peeplu, with Shri Ayub Khan serving as the current District and Sessions Judge.
