Before 1956, Bijnor and Nagina were part of the Moradabad Judgeship and functioned as outline courts. The Bijnor Judgeship was formally established by Government Order no. 8122/vii-678/52 on 18th June 1956, which temporarily created two courts: one for the District & Sessions Court and another for the Civil Judge. Following the establishment of the judgeship, the temporary Munsif Court ceased operations and merged with the Civil Judge’s court.

The temporary courts created under Government Order no. 8122/vii-678/52 were made permanent through Government Order no. 1578/vii-6785/52 dated 14th July 1958, effective from 1st April 1958. The first District Judge of Bijnor was Mr. R.C. Dubey.
