Jalaun is a city located in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Previously, it served as the residence of a Maratha governor but was never the district headquarters, which is situated in Orai, a city on the Kanpur-Jhansi NH27. Until 1971, the Jalaun district fell under the Jhansi division. The Magistrate, Collector, and Judge from Jhansi would travel to Jalaun at Orai twice a week to hold court in the Sessions House Building, which now serves as the residence of the District Judge of Jalaun at Orai.

In 1971, the Sessions Division of Jalaun at Orai was established, with Late Shri B.L. Goel as the first District Judge, serving from 1 February 1971 to 5 February 1974, followed by 32 other District Judges. Currently, Shri Achal Sachdev holds the position of District and Sessions Judge for Jalaun at Orai. The residence of the District Judge, which once functioned as a courtroom for the District Magistrate, Collector, and Judge, is a charming colonial bungalow surrounded by lush, green gardens.
