The District Court of Badaun, with a history of over a century, was established in 1913, with the transfer of civil and criminal cases from Shahjahanpur and Moradabad judgeships respectively. Sir Syed Ahmad Khan once served here as Sadar-e-Aala. Shri L. Marshall, I.C.S., was the first District Judge of Badaun. Over the years, several additions have been made to the Badaun judgeship: the Dacoity Affected Area (DAA) Court in 1982, the Essential Commodities and SC/ST Court in 1984, and the Family Court in 2013.

Other advancements include the Fast Track Court in 2016, Permanent Lok Adalat in 2017, and Gram Nyayalaya, Bilsi in 2019. Recent improvements include a video conferencing hall (2015), an ADR Centre (2017), and an uninterrupted power supply (since 2016). The infrastructure of the court is constantly growing with new buildings under construction.
