District Court Etah was established in 1951 and is located in the Aligarh region of western Uttar Pradesh. It shares its northern boundary with Kanshiram Nagar (Kasganj) and Badaun districts, while Mainpuri and Farrukhabad lie to the east, and Firozabad to the south. Positioned between the Ganga and Yamuna rivers, it falls within the coordinates of 27°18′ to 28°2′ N latitude and 79°17′ E longitude.

Before independence, the Judicial Courts of Etah were part of the Sessions Division in Aligarh. The Court of the Civil Judge in Etah was first set up on 18 December 1950, with Sri S. D. Sharma appointed as the inaugural Civil Judge. In 1951, Etah became its own Sessions Division, and Mr. K. L. Arora served as the first District Judge. Initially, Etah’s jurisdiction extended over five tehsils: Etah (Sadar), Aliganj, Jalesar, Kasganj, and Patiyali. In 2007, Kasganj was separated to become its own district. Currently, Etah Court handles civil and criminal matters for the tehsils of Etah (Sadar), Aliganj, and Jalesar.
