Kolasib Court, located in Kolasib district, is an important judicial institution in the state of Mizoram, India. It is the 5th district among the 11 states of Mizoram, sharing borders with Hailakandi district and Mamit district of Assam to the north and northwest. Aizawl district in the west, south, and east, and Cachar district of Assam in the northeast. Initially operating under the guidance of the Additional District Magistrate (Judicial) from the premises of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office until 2008, the court later moved to its current location at Venglai on October 31, 2008, upon the completion of the District Court building.
Further enhancing its judicial services, the Fast Track Court in Kolasib was inaugurated on 2 November 2016, by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Michael Zothankhuma, Judge of the Gauhati High Court. The District Legal Services Authority in Kolasib, established in 2011, plays an important role in providing legal aid. Additionally, initiatives like Lok Adalat and the provision of legal aid counseling further strengthen the legal aid system in the district.
