In Saiha, before the separation of the judiciary from the executive in 2008, the administration of justice was managed by the Deputy Commissioner and assistants under the Rules for the Regulation of the Procedure of Officers Appointed to Administer Justice in the Lushai Hills, 1937. This changed with the implementation of the separation scheme. The Pawi-Lakher Regional Council, established in 1953 and later reorganized into autonomous regions, played a significant role. The Lakher Autonomous Region, headquartered in Saiha, saw the establishment of its justice administration system. Rules such as the Pawi-Lakher Autonomous Region (Administration of Justice) Rules, 1954, and the Lakher Autonomous District (Administration of Justice) Rules, 1981, were promulgated to regulate the legal proceedings within these regions.
Presently, the Saiha District Court comprises three courts: the Fast Track Judge cum Additional District & Sessions Judge, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Senior Civil Judge, and Judicial Magistrate 1st Class cum Civil Judge. These courts, operating under the territorial jurisdiction of the Lunglei Judicial District/Lunglei Sessions Division, are headed by the Honorable Fast Track Judge cum Additional District & Sessions Judge.
