The Court of District & Sessions Judge, Tirap was established in 2019 with Shri. Hirendra Kashyap was the first District & Sessions Judge of the Khonsa Sessions division. The Court of the Judicial Magistrate First Class Cum Civil Judge (Junior Division) was set up in 2013 with Shri. Damge Niri as the inaugural judge. The territorial jurisdiction of Khonsa Sessions division includes Tirap, Changlang, and Longding districts of Arunachal Pradesh. In 2020, the District & Sessions Court was also constituted/designated as the Special Court for NDPS Act, POCSO Act, Human Rights, MACT, etc.

Legal Aid Services are rendered in the district through the District Legal Aid Services Authority (DLSA). The underprivileged sections of society seeking legal aid can approach the DLSA office in Khonsa, situated within the Court complex. The DLSA organizes legal literacy and awareness programs periodically, involving panel lawyers and Para Legal Volunteers (PLV), to enhance legal awareness, especially among women and other vulnerable segments of society. Target groups for these programs include women, school children, and village communities.
