Lohit district is the northeastern district of Arunachal Pradesh. The headquarters of the Lohit district is Tezu which has an average height of 185 meters (606 feet). It is one of the oldest headquarters of Arunachal Pradesh. Tribes like Digaru-Mishmi (Taraons), Miju-Mishmi (Kamans), Idu-Mishmi, Adi, and Tai-Khampti are the indigenous tribes of Lohit district and they are popularly known for their rich customs and culture, colorful traditional dresses, and values.
The District & Sessions Court was initially established at Namsai Town, the headquarters of Namsai District. Later, it was shifted to Tezu, the headquarters of Lohit District, in June 2010, with full-fledged official functioning. The first Honorable District & Sessions Judge was Shri Budi Habung.
