Located at an average elevation of 578 meters above sea level, the Leparada district, with its headquarters at Basar, is one of the 26 districts of Arunachal Pradesh in Northeastern India. It was formed by dividing the Lower Siang District in 2018, making it the 25th district of Arunachal Pradesh. The district is strategically positioned, hence the name LepaRada (Lepa means Centre, and Rada means Bull’s eye in the local dialect). It comprises four administrative circles: Basar, Dari, Tirbin, and Sago.
Previously, the Fast Track Court was established at Basar (then part of the West Siang district). Later, in 2012, it was upgraded to an Additional District & Sessions Court, with Mrs. Jaweplu Chai serving as the first Hon’ble Additional District & Sessions Judge, Basar.
