The District and Sessions Court was established in July 2013 and is situated at its headquarters in Ziro. Ziro, a town in the Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh, serves as its district headquarters. It has been included in the Tentative List for UNESCO’s World Heritage Site due to the Apatani cultural landscape. The central area of economic activities and administrative offices in the town is referred to as Hapoli, locally known by the Apatanis as “Hao-Polyang”.
Ziro is located 115 km from the state capital, Itanagar, 112 km from North Lakhimpur in Assam, and 96 km from Naharlagun railway station. The Indian Air Force’s ALG airstrip is also situated in Ziro.
