Bijapur district is among the Twenty-Eight districts of Chhattisgarh State, with Bijapur town serving as its administrative headquarters. Previously, it was a part of Dantewada District. Bijapur district occupies the southernmost territory of Chhattisgarh state, bordered to the north and northeast by its parent district, Dantewada. To the east lies the Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh, while to the south and the lower western region lie Andhra Pradesh state, and the remaining western area is part of Maharashtra state.
Bijapur, situated in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh, India, acts as the district’s hub and is one of its four taluks. These taluks include Bijapur, Bairamgarh, Bhopalpatnam, and Usoor. The district predominantly comprises hills, with its highest peak being Bailadila, often referred to as the “Bullock’s Hump”. Located south of the Indrawati River, it tilts in a north-south direction. Bijapur district boasts abundant forest cover, predominantly falling under the dry region and consisting of a mixed forest range.
