Meghalaya, located in northeastern India, boasts a picturesque landscape consisting of mountains, valleys, and high plateaus, making it geographically diverse. The state was officially established on 21 January 1972 by merging two districts of Assam: United Khasi Hills and Jaintia Hills, along with Garo Hills.
The Meghalaya High Court inaugurated in March 2013, serves as the highest judicial body for the state. Before its establishment, jurisdiction over Meghalaya was under a bench of the Gauhati High Court.
