North Goa Court Recruitment 2024 (eCourts.gov.in) New Notification

The Code of Criminal Procedure was extended to the Union Territory of Goa, Daman & Diu from 1 November 1963. From this date, one Sessions Court for this entire Territory was established with its Headquarters in Panaji. Later, on 15 June 1966, the Code of Civil Procedure and related Civil Laws were also extended, and consequently, this Court was named the District & Sessions Court in Panaji. However, on 4 February 1981, the second District & Sessions Court was established with its Headquarters in Margao. As a result, the territorial jurisdiction of the District and Sessions Court in Panaji was changed, excluding areas such as the Talukas of Ponda, Salcete, Quepem, and Mormugao, which were included in the newly formed District & Sessions Court, South Goa, Margao.

The District and Sessions Court in North Goa, Panaji, is located on the bank of the Mandovi river, near the old Secretariat of the Government of Goa, in the heart of the Capital City of Panaji. Currently, in North Goa District, there is 1 Principal District & Sessions Judge and 20 other Judges. The office hours of District & subordinate Courts are from 9.30 to 1.00, 2.00 to 5.30 with a lunch break of one hour between 1.00 p.m to 2.00 p.m. Court hours: 10.00 to 1.00 and 2.00 to 5.00.

Following the establishment of the two District & Sessions Courts, subordinate Civil and Criminal Courts in Panaji, Mapusa, Bicholim, Daman & Diu fell under the jurisdiction of the District & Sessions Court, North Goa, Panaji. Courts in Margao(Salcete), Ponda, Quepem, and Mormugao (Vasco) came under the jurisdiction of the District & Sessions Court, South Goa, Margao. Additionally, Civil and Criminal Courts stationed at Ponda were included in the North Goa District in 1988. New Courts of Civil Judges, Junior Division & J.M.F.Cs were also created in Pernem and Valpoi (Sattari). Furthermore, with the establishment of the new District Court for the Union Territories of Daman and Diu in 1991, the Civil and Criminal Courts in Daman and Diu were detached from the control of the District & Sessions Court in Panaji.

The procedure is as follows
