The District Court of Bageshwar was established on 29 February 2000. Situated in a hilly region, Bageshwar lies at the confluence of the Saryu and Gomti rivers. Initially made a separate Tehsil in 1974, Bageshwar was declared a Pargana in 1976. In September 1997, it was designated as a new district of Uttar Pradesh.
