The District Courts in Chamoli, Uttarakhand, are established by the State Government in consultation with the High Court, considering the number of cases, topography, and population distribution. The Chamoli Court operates under a three-tier system, with the District and Sessions Judge at the highest level. This court handles civil and criminal cases, deriving its civil jurisdiction primarily from The Bengal, Agra, and Assam Civil Courts Act, of 1887, and its criminal jurisdiction from the Code of Criminal Procedure, of 1973.
