Sheohar, an administrative district in Bihar, became a judicial district on 1 December 2012. This transition was marked by the inauguration of the Sheohar Judgeship by Hon’ble Miss Justice Rekha Manharlal Doshit, the then Chief Justice of Patna High Court. Prominent figures present included Hon’ble Sri Narendra Narayan Yadav, the then Law Minister of Bihar, and Hon’ble Justices Jayanandan Singh and Ajay Kumar Tripathi.

Sri N.N. Ojha served as the first District & Sessions Judge. The main court building’s first floor was inaugurated on 2 October 2013, by Sri Nisha Nath Ojha, and the second floor on 6 September 2014, by Hon’ble Justice Jayanandan Singh. Additionally, on 16 September 2020, the Child-Friendly Court building was e-inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sanjay Karol, the Chief Justice of Patna High Court.
