The revenue district of Bishnupur was previously part of the judicial district of Manipur East. The District and Session Court, Manipur East, headquartered in Imphal, held jurisdiction over it. On 14 September 2013, Bishnupur District established its separate District and Session Court. Following the division, the District & Session Court, Bishnupur, retained territorial authority over the entire Bishnupur District. The Civil Judge (Senior) Division/Chief Judicial Magistrate and Civil Judge (Junior) Division/Judicial Magistrate First Class, existing before the establishment of the District & Session Court, continue to operate.
In 2017, the Family Court, Bishnupur, was also set up under the 14th Finance Award, with territorial jurisdiction identical to that of the District Court, Bishnupur. Currently, this court is situated at Bishnupur Complex, Bishnupur. The District and Sessions Judge, Bishnupur, holds territorial jurisdiction over the entire Revenue District of Bishnupur.
