The Civil Court in Purnea was relocated to its current campus after the earthquake of 1934. Before this, the building associated with the K.Hat Police Station in Purnea served as the Civil Court Campus, while the present Police Rest House (Chanda Rest House) in front of the K.Hat Police Station functioned as the District Judge Record Room. Mr. John Forcus Kinker was the first District Judge of Purnea. The old structures, including the North Wing, East Wing, West Wing, and Record Room within the Purnea Civil Court campus, have been declared heritage buildings by the Government of Bihar.

A distinctive feature of this campus is the Record Room, which is a well-maintained building and serves as the office of the Civil Court, Purnea. Even case records from the year 1800 are available here in good condition. The Government of Bihar has allocated funds to preserve these historic structures, and the preservation work is currently in progress.
