The Judgeship of Ramgarh was established on 03/10/2015, inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Justice Sri Virender Singh, the then Chief Justice of the High Court of Jharkhand, Ranchi. Sri Kishor Kumar Srivastava was appointed as the first District & Sessions Judge of Ramgarh. Before this, Ramgarh was part of the Hazaribagh judgeship.
The Jharkhand Government, via notification no. 1729/J dated 07 July 2014, created the Ramgarh District and Sessions Division, headquartered in Ramgarh, under the Principal District and Sessions Judge. This division covers 143 Panchayats across six blocks.
Ramgarh is one of Jharkhand’s twenty-four districts, carved from the former Hazaribagh District on 12 September 2007. Its name, meaning “The Fort of God Ram,” reflects its historical significance. The district falls under the North Chotanagpur Division.
Rajrappa Mandir, home to the revered Chhinamastika Temple, is a major Hindu pilgrimage site, located 28 km from Ramgarh at the confluence of the Damodar and Bhairavi rivers. This ancient temple, mentioned in Vedas and Puranas, is a significant source of Shakti.
