In the Rewa district, justice was once administered in the Rajshahi and Rajdarbar. Maharaja Vishwanath Pratap Singh later established a separate judicial system in 1827, forming the Mitakshara Court and Dharmasabha, famously known as Kachehri Mitakshara. Prominent figures like Pandit Krishnachari, Gobindram Shukla, and Gokul Nath Mahapatra oversaw criminal decisions, while Ramnath Gadriha was appointed to the Dharmasabha, later joined by Jagannath Shastri. In 1935, the Rewa Raj Goods Act was enacted, leading to the formation of Teonthar, Mauganj, and Sirmaur Tehsil Courts, and a formal court in Rewa. Vindhya Pradesh High Court was inaugurated on 1 September 1948 by Chief Justice Raibahadur P.C. Mogha, with judges like Pancholi Chatur Singh and Durgaprasad.

After the formation of Madhya Pradesh in 1956, this court merged with the Madhya Pradesh High Court. Prominent figures such as Justice J.S. Verma and Justice Guru Prasanna Singh also served in the Rewa Judicial Commissioner’s Court.
