The courts in Kothagudem trace their origins to the First-Class Magistrate Court in Paloncha, established during the Nizam’s rule under the Hyderabad State. In 1953, the court was shifted to Ramavaram to cater to Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) employees and later relocated to Kothagudem in 1970. The present Court Complex was built in Writer Basthi, Kothagudem, in 1982, with additional courts, including Senior Civil Judge and Magistrate Courts, established over time. On 2 June 2022, Bhadradri Kothagudem Judicial District was inaugurated, now encompassing 13 courts, including District Judges, Senior Civil Judges, and Magistrates, serving the entire revenue district.

Bhadradri Kothagudem is home to significant industrial entities like SCCL, KTPS, and Bhadrachalam Paper Boards, alongside natural landmarks like the Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary and Sree Seetha Ramachandraswamy Temple at Bhadrachalam. The sanctuary, spanning 635.4 sq. km, houses diverse wildlife, enriching the district’s heritage.
