The Kandhamal-Boudh judgeship, initially part of the undivided Ganjam-Berhampur judgeship, was separated on 11.08.1984. Later, under the Government of Orissa’s Law Department Letter No. 1712 (dated 17.02.2010) and the Hon’ble High Court of Orissa’s notification No. 692 (dated 03.10.2012), the Boudh Judgeship was further split from the Kandhamal-Boudh composite judgeship. The Boudh Judgeship officially began functioning on 06.10.2012, with Sri Biraj Prasad Dutta, LLB, appointed as its first District & Sessions Judge.
Currently, 13 courts operate within the Boudh Judgeship. Nine courts are situated at the Boudh headquarters, including the District & Sessions Judge, Family Court, and others. Additionally, three courts, including the Addl. District & Sessions Judge and Senior Civil Judge, function at Kantamal, while the Civil Judge (JD)-cum-JMFC operates at Charichhak, Harabhanga.
