Kendrapara has a rich judicial history, with its first Munsif Court established in 1831 by the British. Post-independence, Kendrapara saw the addition of several courts, including the Subordinate Judge Court in 1966 and the Judicial Magistrate Court in 1969. The district gained further judicial prominence with the establishment of the District & Sessions Court on 26 June 2012, inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Justice V. Gopala Gouda.
Special courts, like the Special Track Court for offenses against women, were introduced in 2013. The Family Court was also inaugurated the same year. The district is home to 14 sanctioned courts, including the Family Court and Lok Adalat. The Registrar, Civil Courts was established in 2012, with Sri Sushanta Kumar Patel serving as its first Registrar
