Morbi District, situated in Gujarat’s Saurashtra region, was established on 15 August 2013, marking India’s 67th Independence Day. The district comprises five talukas: Morbi, Maliya, Tankara, Wankaner, and Halvad. It shares borders with Kutch, Surendranagar, Rajkot, and Jamnagar districts. Morbi, the district headquarters, is known as the “City of Peacocks” and is rich in natural beauty, history, and cultural heritage.

Located on the Machchhu River, 35 km from the sea and 60 km from Rajkot, Morbi was shaped by the visionary leadership of Sir Lakhdhiraji Waghji, who ruled from 1922 to 1948. The tragic Machchhu dam disaster of 1979 remains a significant event in its history. Traditionally known for ceramic and clock manufacturing, Morbi is now a thriving hub for paper mills, packaging, and export industries. Since 2 October 2016, the Morbi District Court has been operational, with multiple courts presided over by Hon’ble Mr. P.C. Joshi.
