Aligarh Court Recruitment 2024 (eCourts.gov.in) New Notification

The District Courts in India are presided over by a judge and serve as the primary venues for dispensing justice at the district level. These courts operate under the oversight of both the government and the High Court of the respective State to which the district belongs. At the apex of each district’s judicial hierarchy is the District and Sessions Judge, who holds the principal authority over civil matters. Additionally, these district courts function as Sessions Courts, responsible for adjudicating sessions-trial cases, including those that carry the possibility of capital punishment.

Aligarh Court

The judicial system operates on a three-tier structure. On the civil side, the Court of Civil Judges (Junior Division) serves as the lowest tier, while on the criminal side, it’s the Judicial Magistrate Court. Civil disputes with minor financial implications are handled by Civil Judges (Junior Division), whereas Judicial Magistrates handle criminal cases punishable by imprisonment of up to five years. Many subordinate courts operate under the authority of the District and Sessions Judges.

Moving up the hierarchy, there are Courts of Civil Judges (Senior Division) for civil matters and the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate for criminal matters. Civil Judges (Senior Division) have jurisdiction over civil cases of any value, while the Chief Judicial Magistrate can try cases punishable by imprisonment for up to seven years. Additional courts, including those of Additional Civil Judges (Senior Division) and Additional Chief Judicial Magistrates, exist to alleviate the workload and maintain efficiency within the judicial system.

At the top level, there may be one or more courts of Additional District and Session Judges with equivalent judicial powers to those of the District and Sessions Judge. The hallmark of the district judiciary is its judicial independence, ensuring that each District Court operates impartially and by the law. The presence of a robust legal bar in every district ensures that court decisions are made without bias, adhering strictly to legal principles and devoid of any undue influence or favoritism.
