The Subordinate Judge Court at Pakur was inaugurated on 1 May 1979 by Hon’ble Justice B.P. Jha of Patna High Court. The Additional District Judge Court was subsequently inaugurated on 12 May 1989 by Hon’ble Justice Ali Ahmed. In June 2001, Pakur Judgeship was separated from Sahibganj and started functioning independently.
The District & Sessions Judge Court was inaugurated on 23 June 2001 by Hon’ble Justice Sudhanshu Jyoti Mukhopadhyay of Jharkhand High Court along with Hon’ble Justice R.R. Prasad and Shri S.N. Choudhary. On 17 September 2002, the Principal District & Sessions Judge Court was opened in the old Civil Court premises by Hon’ble Justice Hari Shankar Prasad Meratiha, R.R. Prasad, and Prashant Kumar.
