Hamirpur district headquarters is nestled between the Yamuna and Betwa rivers, with the District Court complex located on the banks of the Yamuna River. In 1956, the Hamirpur Judgeship functioned as an Outer Court of the Banda Judgeship, with a single Civil and Sessions Judge Court. Shri Jagdish Sharma was appointed as the first District Judge of Hamirpur Judgeship on 2 December 1969. At that time, Mahoba functioned as an Outer Court under the Hamirpur Judgeship.

However, in 1997, Mahoba was reorganized as a separate District Court. At present, there are 24 functional courts at the headquarters of the Hamirpur Judgeship, along with two Outer Courts operating in Rath and Maudha tehsils. Additionally, the district has one Gram Court in Sarila tehsil. A Family Court (Principal Judge) and a Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) Court are also operational at the Hamirpur district headquarters, ensuring comprehensive judicial services for the region.
