The District & Sessions Court in Kalaburagi came into existence in the year 1935. Initially, it operated from the Old Court building until the construction of the New Court building with two floors in 2004. The main building is located near Siddartha Law College, Temple Road, Kalaburagi, close to the Railway Station. Presently, the Court Complex houses one Court of the Principal District & Sessions Judge, Kalaburagi, along with four Additional District and Sessions Judges Courts and one Fast Track Court.
There is a separate Bar Association within the Court Premises, and accommodation for lady advocates is also available nearby. The Court Complex also provides facilities such as a canteen and typing pool for the Advocates Association, within the District Court Compound. The building is well-maintained and equipped with all necessary civil amenities.
Additionally, there are courts such as the Principal Civil Judge (Senior Division) and Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, as well as three Additional Civil Judge (Senior Division) Courts, one Principal Civil Judge (Junior Division) & Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court, and four Additional Civil Judge (Junior Division) & JMFC Courts operating within the new Court Complex. One court, namely the Fourth Additional Civil Judge (Junior Division) & JMFC, Kalaburagi, operates in the Old Court building.
Furthermore, other courts like the Family Court and Labour Court are situated in the “Mini Vidhana Soudha,” which is adjacent to the Court Complex. Additionally, a Railway Court is functioning as well.
