Chikkamagaluru Court Recruitment 2025 (eCourts.gov.in) New Notification

Chikkamagaluru District was known as Kadur District until 1947. In the 1880s, there were only two Munsiff Magistrate Courts, one in Narasimharajapura (previously called Yedehally) and another in Chikkamagaluru. At that time, Kadur served as the District headquarters. These two courts have been functioning for over 125 years. The Munsiff Magistrate Court in Narasimharajapura had jurisdiction over Sringeri, Koppa, Narasimharajapura, Tarikere, and Kadur Revenue Taluks, while the Munsiff Magistrate Court in Chikkamagaluru had jurisdiction over Chikkamagaluru & Mudigere Revenue Taluks.

Subsequently, the Munsiff Magistrate Court in Tarikere was established on 1 October 1940 with jurisdiction over Tarikere and Kadur Revenue Taluk. Before  1 November 1965, there was no Sessions Court in Chikkamagaluru district, and all Sessions and cases triable by the District Judge fell under the jurisdiction of the District & Sessions Court in Shivamogga. The Shimoga (Shivamogga) Division at that time included Shivamogga, Chitradurga, and Chikkamagaluru districts.

The District and Sessions Court in Chikkamagaluru was established on 1 November 1965 and is located in the heart of the city. The public approaches the court with their grievances seeking redressal. The court complex is situated near the Town Mahila Samaj, State Bank of Mysuru, S.P Office, I.B., Income Tax Office, L.I.C. Office, District Central Library, and other government offices, approximately 200 feet away.

Chikkamagaluru Revenue District comprises seven Revenue Taluks: Chikmagalur, Mudigere, Kadur, Tarikere, Narasimharajapura, Koppa, and Sringeri.
