Shravasti Judgeship was established on 19 March 1998, with Tehsil Bhinga and Tehsil Ikauna initially part of Bahraich Judgeship. The creation of the Sessions Division led to the posting of Sri Muneendra Kumar Mittal as District & Sessions Judge. Initially, five courts were sanctioned, including the District & Sessions Judge, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Civil Judge Senior Division, Civil Judge Junior Division, and Judicial Magistrate. Later, an Additional Sessions Judge Court from Azamgarh was transferred to Shravasti.

The district consists of three tehsils: Bhinga, Ikauna, and Jamunaha, where cases are heard and disposed of by judicial officers. The judgeship operates with 11 police stations, including Kotwali Bhinga, Sonwa, and Ikauna, handling legal matters related to these regions.
