The history of judgeship in the region dates back to 1876 when the Sessions Judge/Kacheri was first established. By 1889, both the Sessions Judge and the Munsif Court became operational, and in 1907, an outlying Munsif Court was inaugurated at Biswan. The Akbarpur House, serving as the residence for the Sessions Judge, was acquired on 11 February 1950. Later, the present District Judge’s residence, known as Sessions House, was taken over on 8 February 1967.

Over the years, significant infrastructure developments took place. In 1975, the Provisional Law and Justice Building was established, covering an area of 5.3 acres. Ten court buildings for the judgeship were completed in 1983. In 2003, an additional eight-courtroom building and five Fast-Track Court buildings were constructed, followed by two more Fast-Track Court buildings on 7 May 2010, further strengthening the judicial infrastructure in the area.
