The Court of JMFC-Cum-Civil Judge (Jr. Div.), Longding was set up in the district in 2019, with Smti. Epi Kapu as its inaugural Judge. This Court operates within the jurisdiction of the District & Sessions Judge, Khonsa Sessions division, Khonsa, Tirap district, Arunachal Pradesh. Situated near the D.C. Office, Longding, the Court currently functions temporarily in the premises of the Consumer Court under the Longding District administration due to the absence of its building. Legal Aid Services in the district are facilitated by the District Legal Aid Services Authority (DLSA), headquartered in the Court Complex. National Lok Adalats are conducted intermittently to resolve compoundable crime cases, civil disputes, and other pre-litigation matters.
Longding District was formerly part of the Tirap Frontier Agency (TFA), established in 1943. The Tirap Frontier Division was subsequently divided into two districts, Tirap and Changlang, in 1965. Longding district was carved out from Tirap district on 19th March 2012, becoming a separate administrative entity.
