In October 2006, after separation from the established District and Sessions Court Raipur, District and Sessions Court Dhamtari came into existence. This Gram Panchayat started functioning in a newly constructed building near Rudri. During that period, the Dhamtari Civil District was staffed by an Additional District Judge, a Chief Judicial Magistrate, and two Civil Judges.
The foundation stone of the new District and Sessions Court building was laid on 2 September 2006 by the Honorable Chief Justice of the High Court of Chhattisgarh, Honorable Shri S.R. Laid down by Nayak.
The new court building was inaugurated on 2 October 2010 by Honorable Shri R.L., Judge of Chhattisgarh High Court, Portfolio Judge of District Court Dhamtari. It was done by Jhanwar.
